Terri Sciavo: Sentenced to Die

...slowly

On Friday, Terri Sciavo was sentenced to die by Judge George Greer. Not content with executing her "humanely," as we do for the nation's child molesters, murderer's, and rapists. Rather, tortured to death by starvation. Doctors have said it could take a week or two for Schiavo to die once the tube that delivers water and nutrients is removed.

Upon reading this, mindful of the satisfying breakfast I just had, my heart ached for her mother and father. Anger and outrage soon followed. A few facts: Terri Sciavo functions just as you or I. The feeding tube is there because she can't feed herself. There are no other instruments, mechanisms, or other equipment that artificially sustain her. She isn't a "vegetable" as her family can testify too, and an army of doctors to boot. She laughs, she cries, she is a human being.

I was reminded of the book of Proverbs:

There is a way that seems right to a man,but its end is the way to death.
-Proverbs 14:12

Violent, wicked men and there lustful hearts will not stand forever.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; -Psalm 1:5

UPDATE: On Tuesday, March 22, a federal judge in Florida has refused to order doctors to reinsert the feeding tube of Terri Schiavo.

I just don't even know where to start. This woman laughs, and smiles, and communicates with others. She's not brain dead, just brain damaged. She's not even in some kind of coma or incoherent(not that I think it would even be okay then, but..)Infact, she functions just like everyone else. The only thing she cannot do is chew and swallow...
In order for them to "let her die"(kill her) they have to starve her to death. Its not shutting off life support, or somehting like that. They are actually killing her. They are killing her slowly and inhumanely. At least a convict, guilty of murder or rape gets to die by lethal injection.
And why does she have to be killed? Whats so wrong with letting her live with a feeding tube? Her parents would gladly take custody of her as well as resposibility for all the medical bills. Heck I bet there are enough people outside her hospital room right now that would be more than happy to take care of her and raise money to pay her bills. SO why then does her husband want her dead so bad?
And where is it in the Constitution that say we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and the right to kill those who we want to because we think THEIR life is not worth living in OUR opinion.....
If you brought your loved one(wife, husband, child, parent, etc.)into an ER and they had a mortal wound, what would you do if the doctor told you that your loved one wasnt smart enough, young enough, or well rounded enough to try to save? Would you not call the police and have the doctor arrested? Would you not then call a lawyer to sue for malpractice? If you would'nt let a doctor decide whether or not your loved one was "worth" saving, how then is a judge(elected to interpret the law, NOT change it, or go around it to suit his/her own agenda) qualified to make this decision. And what kind of man is she married to that isnt at the hospital with her and her parents all the time, hoping and praying for her recovery or improvement? Maybe the kind of man that has been sleeping around with another woman this whole time and has 3 kids out of wedlock with her.....
I wonder if Terri didn't have a hefty life insurance policy, would he want her to have the "right to die" so bad? What if he didn't have a whore on the side with 3 kids out of wedlock? Would he care if she lived or died?
I think not

I'm sorry, just one more comment...
While I was searching the news site to see if it was tonight that we change the clocks, I stumbled upon this...

I think it speaks for itself. Fnny how so much money goes into finding out that animals have feelings, what about people?

Just a thought for you though and a question really, if an army of doctors said shes not vegetative, then how can an army of court selected dr's say that she is.......let me ask you this as wel. would you want to exist in a manner that would burden your family to the limit? its all well and good to have the morality to keep her alive, though it comes back to what does terri want. to be cold. dont starve her.. put her down... but hey thats illegal isnt it?

i guess your pro life, not pro choice as well

The same way an army of people can say politician X is a liar and another army of people says that he is not a liar. Differing opinions, you see?

"would you want to exist in a manner that would burden your family to the limit?"

No, I would not. Relevance?

"it comes back to what does terri want."

That's right. What does Terri want? Do you know? Since we don't know for sure, I'll bet on not killing her slowly.

"dont starve her.. put her down... but hey thats illegal isnt it?"

In your world, who would be the arbiter of who lives and dies?

"i guess your pro life, not pro choice as well"

You mean Pro-abortion don't you? Unless you'd consider Pol Pot's "killing fields" his "choice fields."

Never thought I would live in a world where one that advocates the blatant destruction of babies, handicapped, elderly, or otherwise undesirable, would assume to be in a higher moral position than the ones who don't.

I would say it's differing agendas. Read up on what "vegetative sate" is defined as http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/921394859.html
Clearly she is not in a vegetative state. Anyone outside of the emotion or dare I say "right to die" agenda, can see this.

"dont starve her.."
How kind of you

"put her down... "
You mean like a dog?

"but hey thats illegal isnt it?"
I guess "Million Dollar Baby" should win film of the year too huh?

Lets kill all the poeple who we think arent having OUR idea of a quality life-including all the furute babies who may or may not have 2 parents, a big house, lots of toys and a car at 16.

Lets choose to murder people just because....

Get out yer goose steppin' boots!
